    Closures and access changes

The cellar is not shut for the whole period: one section at a time is sealed off, and signs marking the no-access zones are posted on site.

    What to do

    • Take out anything you need from the bicycle room and the storage rooms before that section is sealed.
    • Do the laundry before the evening of Wednesday 9 September. The laundry room is closed 6pm to 6am that night.
    • On the night of 9 September, walk in from the street. There is no way through the cellar to the parking lot.
    • Follow the no-access signs posted on site. They mark the sealed sections.

    Questions
The management office, (718) 646-9080. The paper notice in the lobby also names a project manager and gives a direct number.

Transcribed from the notice dated 31 August 2026. That notice writes the end date as 9/18/25; from its own list of dates it means 18 September 2026. Where this page differs from the paper notice, the paper notice is correct.

    Which section is where

The notice marks four sections on a plan of the cellar. This is what each one covers.

    Section C
The west end: Storage Room 3 and the compactor room.
    Section D
The stretch of corridor beside the laundry room. It is short, but it is the way through: sealing it cuts the cellar in two, which is why the closure on 9 September is the wide one.
    Section A
    The bicycle room.
    Section B
One angled area covering the whole east end: Storage Room 2, the storage room beyond it, and the floor that carries on down the east side past the compactor, towards 2540 Batchelder.
Schematic of the 2520 Batchelder Street cellar A strip running west to east. At the west end, Section C covers Storage Room 3 and the compactor room. Along the top, west to east: the office, Storage Room 1 and the meter room. Section D is a short stretch of corridor between the top and bottom rows, beside the laundry room. Along the bottom, west to east: the community room, the laundry room, Section A which is the bicycle room, and the compactor. Section B is a single angled area at the east end: a band across the top holding Storage Room 2 and a further storage room, with the east end carried down the full depth of the cellar, wrapping around the compactor. Schematic of the cellar, not to scale and not a floor plan. It shows which rooms fall in which lettered section. The measured plan is the one attached to the paper notice.

About these updates

What this page is, and what it is not

Notices reach residents on paper, posted in the lobbies and handed out in a packet. They are transcribed here so they can be read on a phone, kept after the paper comes down, and linked to one at a time. Nothing is added and nothing is left out, except a contractor’s direct contact details, which stay on the paper copy.

This page is not a substitute for the notice packet. Dates move, and a notice can be replaced by a newer one or by a sign on the door. Where this page and the paper differ, the paper is correct. If you spot an error here, please tell the management office so it can be put right.

How often
There is no fixed schedule. A notice goes up when a phase of the work is about to affect an entrance, a room, the laundry, the parking lot, or the water and heat. Expect several a year while the work runs, to December 2028.
Older notices
Nothing is taken down once the work is finished. Past notices stay on this page, marked as finished, so there is a record of what happened and when.
The long schedule
The construction schedule lists every item of work for all four buildings from March 2026 to December 2028. Its dates are tentative and given in whole months. These updates give the exact days, for one building at a time, shortly before the work starts.

Anything that needs arranging goes to the office

Access to apartments, storage, parking and anything that has to be sorted out in advance is handled by the management office, not by the contractor.
